The choir was found and organized by Steven Kirkpatrick in April 2009. VINEYARD VOICE (formerly Central Texas Master Singers), was inspired by Steven’s past singing experience in the world-renowned Dr. Gary Bonner Singers. Additionally, he has studied choral conducting each summer since 2007 with Dr. Bonner through rigorous week-long seminars provided by the Bonner Institute for the Advancement of Choral Music. Steven has led church choirs for more than 30 years beginning at the age of 14. His community choral experiences also include the Colorado Choir, Riverside Master Chorale and Salado Community Chorus. The choir has performed more than 200 full length concerts and recorded 9 CD albums.
Singers from a variety of musical backgrounds comprise the choir. Many have formal vocal training, including public school music educators, freelance musicians, volunteer church musicians, current and past collegiate singers, but we also welcome other singers. Participating with the VINEYARD VOICE requires an extraordinary level of commitment. The choir does not hold music at performances – all numbers are fully memorized. A rigorous performance schedule throughout the September – April season includes weekly rehearsals, resulting in excellence in sound and musicianship. Singers are expected to attend all rehearsals and perform in all scheduled performances.
Open Rehearsals occur every Monday in the months of September through the second week of May. Auditioning Singers should arrive no later than 6:30 PM and plan to stay for the entire rehearsal.
Because of the CoVid pandemic, all rehearsals and auditions are closed to the general public. Auditions are now required to be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Additional protocols have also been implemented. Please call 254-258-6844 for rehearsal location and to schedule your audition.
